…the planet is warming, from North Pole to South Pole, and everywhere in between. The heat is not only melting glaciers and sea ice, it’s also shifting precipitation patterns and setting animals on the move. There are many documented effects of climate change, at local and global levels. These can be broadly grouped into environmental, economic and social effects…
I have closely followed the news on the effects of the climate change on the entire world today. It has been broadcast through the print and electronic media, what the effects would be on both local and the global communities if the populace do not take a joint decision and action to begin to tackle this man-made threat to our healthy global environmental landscape.
As recorded by BBC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an organisation set up between governments to monitor the causes, effects and management of climate change, “human activity does affect global warming – specifically through the release of greenhouses gases and the use of aerosols. There is controversy over how fast the earth is warming up. Some scientists estimate that atmospheric temperatures could rise by 1.4° – 5.8°C in the next 100 years”. Many other scientific researchers have also recorded that the temperature will only rise more slowly. Now globally, a significant number of scientists have expressed their belief that temperatures have already risen by 0.8°C, even more in sensitive Polar Regions.
It is so alarming to me that we have centred our lives around the creations, environmental reactions to change, and we have so much attached our emotions to these entities, which will certainly pass away, and neglecting the One Who created them with the word of His mouth.
The Global Fear
Having looked into the above premise, I have discovered that the entire humanity has shifted her attention from the CREATOR and we are now intentionally gazing on the creation and simultaneously exercising fear of the presumed danger in the future. From findings, it has been recorded that whatever the causes and timescale of the climate change, the effects are extremely serious. In another series of findings recorded by the BBC, “the planet is warming, from North Pole to South Pole, and everywhere in between. The heat is not only melting glaciers and sea ice. It’s also shifting precipitation patterns and setting animals on the move. There are many documented effects of climate change, at local and global levels. These can be broadly grouped into environmental, economic and social effects”.
Fear the Lord Your God
“Then He shall be a sanctuary [a sacred, indestructible shelter for those who fear and trust Him]; But to both the houses of Israel [both the northern and southern kingdoms—Israel and Judah…
According to Prophet Isaiah 8:12-13 (AMP), it is recorded in the scripture that “You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear nor be in dread of it. “It is the Lord of hosts whom you are to regard as holy and awesome. He shall be your [source of] fear, He shall be your [source of] dread [not man]”. It is so alarming to me that we have centred our lives around the creations, environmental reactions to change, and we have so much attached our emotions to these entities, which will certainly pass away, and neglecting the One Who created them with the word of His mouth. “In the beginning God (Elohim) created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
He Will be a Shelter
In my journey with the Lord so far, I have experienced Him being a shelter that keeps His own people and protects them from any kind of harassment, calamities, catastrophic happenings and shame. No wonder it is stated in Isaiah 8:14 (AMP) “Then He shall be a sanctuary [a sacred, indestructible shelter for those who fear and trust Him]; But to both the houses of Israel [both the northern and southern kingdoms—Israel and Judah, He will be] a stone on which to stumble and a rock on which to trip, A trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.”
The question is why should we fear anything in this world when Jesus has taken away all our fears and given us redemption from law and death? Paul recorded in Romans 8:1-2 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Despite the threats of sickness, natural disaster, loss of a loved one and whatever the climate change brings, Jesus has promised to be a shelter to all those who trust Him. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). Why not begin to trust Jesus today and enter into His rest… “Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness]” (Hebrews 4:11).
