Walking in Fulfillment and Satisfaction…
Jeremiah 18:1-9
After relocating to the United Kingdom over a decade and a half ago, I resolved that I would have to allow myself to go through the hard process of a gradual change from the mentality of where I came from to the tradition, culture, and ways of life of the western system. My initial thought of that kind of change was that it would be easy like learning to making just a good cup of tea or making some sandwiches, but I later realised that this kind of change requires more than that. It requires that I put my mind toward transformation and being intentional about wanting to transition from where I was to where I am now. Which indirectly implies that no change is easy.
As time went on, I began to put my mind towards changing my thought process, my ways of living, the way I see things, the way I approach people, etc. Everything began to change because I became very intentional about this new process, which I believe will help to live in the kind of life God wants me to live in the UK. I also had to engage the same biblical principles of change when I was called by God into the work of ministry.
Examining the revelation in Jeremiah chapter 18 verses 1 to 9, the prophet Jeremiah looked at the potter and picked that message; he was receiving the revelation that God was giving him. He discovered that God wants us to be flexible in our walk with him. He desires that we are intentional and dependent on grace for change, transformation, restoration, for the fulfillment of the work of redemption which Christ has completed on the cross of Calvary. From Jeremiah chapter 18, we see that the clay has the potential to be made into so many things, but the clay must be available and flexible. God shapes us and rebuilds us to fit for the purpose that He wants to use us for. 2 Timothy 2:21 “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work”. God is not only interested in the finished pot but also wants to get His hands dirty in the process of making us fit for His perfect purpose.
For God so loved the world that He came to the world in human form. And He lived in this world with us and gave His blood; Jesus gave His blood so that we can be redeemed and made it into a vessel that is useful for Himself. Knowing that this is the only way to fulfillment, the only way to satisfaction in this world and even in eternity. Some believers believe that God is too busy to start rebuilding them because of their terrible past errors and mistakes.
The prophet Isaiah wrote; “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18). But on the contrary God has so much interest in us, and He is so willing to break down all our past errors and make them into glorious outcomes for His purpose to be fulfilled in our lives.
Your errors and mistakes of yesterday can be put together by God to push you into your place in destiny, bringing you into fulfillment and peace, as written in God’s agenda for you. Romans 28:8; “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”.
God has all the rights and prerogatives to choose what He wants to use us for. You and I might have tried so many options, and we are tired because none is working to bring us to a place of satisfaction and fulfillment. The reason is that God is the author of our lives, He created us in His image so that our lives can bring glory and honour to His name, and the only way to go about that is by doing it His way. He desires that our lives, the entirety of our being bring Him glory, honour, and worship.
However, God can use anyone to achieve His purpose. It is not about the church you attend, the people around you, or if you’re a pastor or not. Not even about your family, but all about the Porter who is God Himself. In a nutshell, it must be by the potter’s choice, being the only way to access complete fulfillment, peace, and satisfaction here on earth, and even in eternity.
