The judgement of God is upon a professing believer who fellowships with anyone who does not accept and believe in the true doctrine of Jesus Christ.
According to Robert P. Lightner, (1985:19), “that false teachers and teachings were present in the early church and would continue and even increase in the last days is a clear teaching of Scripture. Also the Bible gives specific commands to believers to separate from false teachers and false doctrine”. According to Robert P. Lightner, the activities of the antichrists will not diminish, but will continue, even on a rapid scale. Believers, in the end times, must be ready to raise their guard to avoid getting entangled with the false teachings of these bad news channels.
The epistle of 1 John also applies to the today’s Christians who wants to grow in the truth of the gospel of Jesus. It’s a choice, as some do not desire to grow in the truth; they only desire riches and other miracles which they are able to access, being in Jesus. If the believer really desires to spread his tentacles as to the area of growth, they must be willing to separate themselves from the false teachers.
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
Apostle John is the preacher of the sovereign nature of Jesus, and the apostle of love, who through his teachings has established that “Anyone who…does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God” (2 John 9). This truth has shed more light on the reality of separation between the believer and those who do not bear the light intentionally. What sort of agreement does darkness have with light?
The judgement of God is upon a professing believer who fellowships with anyone who does not accept and believe in the true doctrine of Jesus Christ. John wrote; “Do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting” (2 John 10). There must be a demarcation between truth and lie.
There is a curse on those who proclaim false doctrine and whoever associates or fellowships with them operates under the same curse; “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8-9).
It is now expedient to offer our heart to God in total submission and seek to grow in the knowledge of the true gospel, rather than go around accessing and absorbing the lies of the enemy, who has repackaged the false doctrine, making it look like truth. Let us begin to seek the face of God to take us into a new dimension of His power and glory to see the reality behind His divinity, hence increasing our knowledge of our purpose in life, as designed by Him.
