The Beauty in Purity

As against the belief of many, that it remains impracticable, a life of purity and holiness, your faith in God opens you up to all possibilities in living a life of purity and holiness by His grace. You are not called to run this race with your human strength, your wisdom, or your religious experiences, but by the grace of Who has rescued and redeemed you.

You are welcome into the month of May. I have brought you another message this month, and this revolves around the story of Esther in the Bible. King Ahasuerus desired to have a new queen who would sit on the throne with him, and one of the king’s major requirements to choose fair women that would be paraded before him for the royal contest was virginity. Esther 2:3 “…that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women…” This stands for purity and cleanness. Walking with God requires purity because He is pure. “If a man therefore purges himself…, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:21).

Esther remained a virgin and she was chosen as one of the fair young ladies that were set aside for preparation for the royal contest which actually led to her enthronement as queen. As it sounds and means that purity embodies favour and greatness. It paves ways and opens unexpected doors in life. Esther 2:8-9 “…that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women, and the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her things for purification…” Micah Robinson says “My purity isn’t simply a declaration or meeting a goal but it is my passport to carry out my purpose here on earth”.

Believing and Following Jesus

As long as you believe, trust and decide to follow Jesus Christ, the right path, you will no longer struggle to remain pure, as Jesus is our righteousness and you automatically become pure by faith and the sufficiency of grace is yours. When Christ died on the cross of Calvary, He took all our impurities and sins upon Himself and said it is finished. Now, you and I can come boldly before Him in the purity of heart and be blameless. Esther found favour and was selected for the contest because she remained pure as a virgin.

Walking with God requires an undistracted faith in Him Who holds the keys to deliverance from mental, spiritual, and attitudinal pressures. No one comes to the Father except he is called, meaning you have not come to Jesus by your efforts, but because he has called you. John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him.”

Based on this argument, I have come to realise that our purity remains in Christ Jesus, as stated in the words of John Pipper “Our life comes from Him. The Son, the Word made flesh is our life and this is the testimony”. Esther’s identity was defined by her preserving her virginity (Purity), hence, out of seven maidens, she was preferred and paraded before the King, fulfilling her God-given purpose. We must therefore endeavour to be pure in heart and live a life of purity, totally depending on His grace to fulfill our God-given purpose.

Happy New Month!
