Keys to a Happy Home (2)

Knowledge is like a seed in the hands of a farmer; understanding is like watering and weeding the planted seed, and wisdom is the fruit from the tree of knowledge and understanding.

It only takes a few hours or minutes to get married but it takes a lifetime to build a home. In spite of many failed marriages, broken homes, divorce cases and disillusioned with failed relationships, marriage is still one of oldest institutions established by God. Just like everything else in life, there are certain principles that must be adhered to in order to have a marriage which is worthwhile.

Wisdom is the application of both knowledge and understanding. Knowing and understanding without applying it will never produce results.

The Need for Understanding

No matter what a person knows, if he or she doesn’t understand what he or she knows, it’s a waste of time. Understanding is the comprehension of the knowledge that a person has received. Without understanding, knowledge is ineffective; it takes understanding for things to be put into right perspectives. It also takes understanding for any man to make right decisions, including judging correctly. It’s understanding that brings sanity into the insanity which has affected any home. When understanding is established in a home, happiness will always find expression in that home.

Understanding makes two people from different backgrounds accommodate each other, and they are willing to help each other become a better person in the home. When understanding is absent, the patience to tolerate one another in the home becomes difficult and that could lead to pain, bitterness and rancour in the home.

To experience a happy home, spouses must learn to put to practice what they have learnt and understood in order to get the desired results.

The Place of Wisdom

Wisdom is the application of both knowledge and understanding. Knowing and understanding without applying it will never produce any results. Knowledge is like a seed in the hands of a farmer; understanding is like watering and weeding the planted seed and wisdom is the fruit from the tree of knowledge and understanding. If a farmer doesn’t plant the seed in his hands, he will never see fruit. If he does not water and weed the planted seed, it will die. This shows the significance of wisdom. Knowledge and understanding are useless without wisdom.

You live in the environment you create. Do you want a peaceful and loving home, create it. It all begins with knowledge and then understanding…

To experience a happy home, spouses must learn to put to practice what they have learnt and understood in order to get the results they are looking for. Proverbs 4:7 “Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!”. Nobody plants orange seed and expect to reap a mango fruit. You will only reap what you have planted in your marriage. If you don’t like what you are seeing in your home, change the seed that you have been planting. Watch and see the kind of fruits you will reap in your home. You live in the environment you create. Do you want a peaceful and loving home, create it. It all begins with knowledge and then understanding before wisdom.

Wisdom only comes to play when knowledge and understanding have taken their proper place in your heart and that is when the fruit of wisdom becomes a blessing and not a curse. There is hope for every marriage no matter how bad the circumstances may be now. Once the right information and understanding are in place, then the right application of wisdom will surely produce positive results.
