Do you know that no matter how similar our requests are before God, He never gives the same answer, because He is our father. He knows us more than we know ourselves and even before we ask, He hears and answers us accordingly...
“There is none like You, O LORD; You are great, and great is Your name in might” (Jeremiah 10:6)
When I was much younger, I remember we used to sing a song that there are no controversies. Jesus is the only God who has no rival, but I think the world has changed and God now has rivals. Yes God’s got rival. (Psalms 86:8) “There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours.”
I think almost everyone in this present day and age is involved in social media. Both young and old, both the learned and illiterate, they either have Facebook, Snap chat etc. That’s how we communicate with the world and that’s how the world influences us.
I said influence, and not communicate, and the reason I said that is because many peoples’ lives have been changed because of social media. Some have changed negatively and some positively. Some are so addicted to the internet that they cannot do without their phones. Many have become so addicted that it has now become a habit. Some peoples’ fingers have been bent due to constant typing and their heads not looking up.
Do you know before some people can eat, wear clothes or do their daily activities, they need to look at the social media which will tell them how to live their lives? It sounds ridiculous but it is true. Research shows that 89% of the most used word on Google is How? “how to bake cake and how to ….” different questions you cannot even imagine. How the world so much depends on Google for their daily living including you and I.
Even today, have you not asked Google a question? One thing about Google is that it gives us all the same response e.g, if I ask how can I bake sponge cake? I’m going to receive the same answer as someone in another location or country who asked the same question. So if we follow the recipe, we will all make the same cake as described by our internet teacher.
But do you know that no matter how similar our requests are before God, He never gives the same answer, because He is our father. He knows us more than we know ourselves and even before we ask, He hears and answers us accordingly. Several times I’ve asked Google questions and not only did it type wrong questions, but gave wrong responses as well. I can go on and on about Google, but our focus today is not on Google but on God.
You don’t want to imagine or believe that these are Gods rival in our lives. Where is the place of God in our lives? When you woke up this morning, did you pray, study your Bible or ask God for direction? Did you ask Him what He wants from you today, what He wants you to say and to who? It is so worrying how so many of us have neglected God and His leading, how we have put Him in the back seat of our lives, rather than Him being the driver. We have put Him in a box, but I tell you, God cannot be boxed. He’s the uncontainable and untameable God..
Ask God not Google, John 16:23 “Truly, truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.”
Having said all these, don’t get me wrong I am not saying social media is not good, if Jesus or Paul were to be here they might use Google map for some of their trips. What Holy spirit is warning us about today is that we should not place God side by side all these man-made gods. He is the only true God that can save us, guide us, lead us and give us direction in every area of our lives. He alone can tell us what career path to follow, who to marry. You can’t ask Google all that. He is the only one who knows what we need even before we ask.
WHY GOD HAS NO RIVAL
- Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations. Google don’t .
- Deuteronomy 10:17
For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and does not take a bribe. – You don’t need to pay any premium before talking to God, but you pay premium to use google.
- Luke 12:7
Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, you are of more value than many sparrows.
- Psalm 147:5
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
- Isaiah 40:28
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
Isaiah 65:24: “Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.”
So let God be your Sat Nav, your friend, your everything. He wants to be in control. He is a jealous God. He doesn’t want anyone to take His place in your life. He is the one that sent His son to die for us. He wants to come in to your life and you know He doesn’t come into any life without an invite. “He said I stand at the door knocking, if anyone will hear me and open the door I will come in, will you let me in, you can’t do without Him.”
So will you let Him in, and take out all the little things that are taking over God’s place in your life?
