Your relationships are also a factor that affects the process of your transformation and renewal of your mind. The calibre of people you keep will determine the quality of your life. Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
The human mind is a complex base, where series of activities take place and the mind has the capacity to simultaneously combine several of these activities at a time. While studying this aspect of human composition, I discovered that the human has a section of the mind that is analytic in nature. Knowing that humans are self-aware creatures, we have the ability to intentionally step back from our current thoughts and state of mind, feelings, and experiences, commitments, to observe them, manipulate information in our minds, and solve problems. As complex as the above activities are, the human mind is capable of working them out simultaneously.
According to the above human mental analysis and its nature, it is established that you have all that it takes to process your thoughts, relationships, career pursuit, and your spiritual growth according to the way you want them to be. You have the willpower to do this with your analytic mind. According to the epistle of Apostle Paul to the Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” The message did not say the God will cause the transformation but refers to you as a being, capable of transforming himself (Mind). You have created the image of God and therefore the creative mind of God is embedded in you at creation.
Genesis 1:26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and overall the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” Immediately God created man, man received the authority to dominate and control the activities around him including his thoughts and mental faculty. The transformation which Apostle Paul now talks about is a function of the mind and you have a role to play in this.
However, there are basic factors and catalysts needed to engage in the above influence that your mind has in the transformation process. Certain exposures are needed for this to take place:
Agents of Transformation
- The Word: Your mind is affected by the kind of books you read and what you hear, as they have ability to shape your mind. This is really a gradual process and it largely determines the level and form of your transformation. Which means the input determines the output. It the software that you install on your computer that determines the kind of activities performed by the system. Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
- Your Relationships: Your relationships are also a factor that affects the process of your transformation and renewal of your mind. The calibre of people you keep will determine the quality of your life. Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
- Dependence on God: Here is the central key to transformation and renewal of mind in this troubled world. Surrendering all to God and acknowledging that He is at the top of your priority release you into an eternal peace that is incomparable. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Mental transformation takes place every day and except this is made a consistent exercise, it would not be impactful. The truth is that every man and woman who wants to achieve this must take a series of actions and be dedicated to them. The level of frequency and commitment will certainly create a psychological impact that manifests on the outside. It is also good to recognise that the result of these individual stringed mental activities would automatically create a positive impact and make the world a better place.
