Breaking Free: Overcoming Life’s Struggles Through Christ
Today’s Scriptural Arsenal (SA) is best enjoyed while listening to “Way Maker” by Sinach.
Once upon a time, a young man named Daniel found himself stuck in a cycle of struggle. No matter how hard he worked, his efforts seemed futile. He prayed, fasted, and even tried self-help strategies, but nothing changed. Frustrated and weary, he wondered, “Why does life feel like a battle I can’t win?”
This is the reality for many. Around the world, people face job loss, health crises, broken relationships, financial burdens, and mental struggles. It feels as if life keeps throwing obstacles in the way. But what if the real battle is not about fighting harder but understanding our position in Christ?
The Power of Our Union with Christ
Many believers live defeated lives because they don’t fully grasp the power of their union with Christ. They see struggles as personal failures rather than opportunities to stand in the victory Christ has already secured. The Bible says in Romans 8:37, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
But how do we move from struggle to victory?
- Recognizing Your Position in Christ
Do you know that from your position in Christ, you can change your situation? You are not an ordinary person. The Bible declares in Ephesians 2:6, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
This means you are not meant to be a victim of life’s circumstances. Jesus took your place on the cross, bore your struggles, and secured your victory. Your job is to identify with Him.
Imagine a prince who forgets he is royalty and lives like a beggar. No matter how much wealth he has access to, if he doesn’t claim it, he will live in poverty. In the same way, many believers live beneath their privileges because they have not fully embraced their position in Christ.
- Overcoming by Faith, Not Just Effort
The world teaches self-sufficiency, but the kingdom of God operates on dependence on Christ. In John 15:5, Jesus says, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” Many struggles persist because we try to handle them in our own strength instead of relying on God’s grace.
A struggling farmer once asked a seasoned mentor how to increase his harvest. The mentor smiled and said, “You are working hard, but have you planted in the right soil?” The farmer realized he had been sowing on dry, unfertile land.
Likewise, many of us strive in the wrong areas. Instead of standing on God’s promises, we stress, worry, and try to control outcomes. But true breakthrough comes when we stand on the finished work of Christ.
- Speaking Victory, Not Defeat
Your words shape your reality. Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Many believers reinforce their struggles by speaking defeat over their lives. Instead of saying, “I am sick”, say, “I am healed.”
Instead of, “Nothing is working”, declare, “All things work together for my good.”
The devil operates through deception. His goal is to make you feel like your struggles define you. But Jesus already paid the price for your freedom. The moment you align your words with God’s truth, chains begin to break.
- Breaking Free from a Defeated Mindset
Christ did not just die for you; He died as you. The struggles that seem impossible are already conquered in Him. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
This means:
- Your past failures do not define you.
- Your struggles are not your identity.
- Your future is secured in Christ.
When a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly, it never goes back to crawling on the ground. Likewise, when you accept your new identity in Christ, you stop living in defeat.
Conclusion: Walk in Your Victory!
The enemy’s greatest trick is making believers forget who they are in Christ. But today, you are reminded that through Jesus, you are free!
Let this be your daily confession:
- I am seated with Christ in heavenly places.
- I walk in divine victory, not defeat.
- My struggles are temporary, but God’s promises are eternal.
No matter what global issues people face—poverty, sickness, war, injustice—our union with Christ is the solution. He is the answer to every human struggle. So, before you worry, before you stress, remember: You are not fighting for victory; you are fighting from victory!
