A lot of lives and families have been affected by this. People have lost their jobs because a significant number of businesses have been closed down. Many big corporations globally have not been able to survive these unprecedented days, weeks, and months.
Seeing the alarming numbers of death tolls in the global medical records due to the outbreak of the pandemic (Covid-19) and the persistently growing rate at which young and old have been made helpless and locked-down, I became extremely concerned and a series of questions sprang in my mind! When is this going to stop? What day and month will this episode come to an end? In the midst of this pandemic, my loving and caring dad (aged 84) went to be with the Lord, and this shows that everyone has been affected by this, one way or the other, leaving no one out. A lot of lives and families have been affected by this. People have lost their jobs because a significant number of businesses have been closed down. Many big corporations globally have not been able to survive these unprecedented days, weeks, and months.
According to the recent statistics and report published by the BBC News, “Most countries are now in recession. The IMF estimates that the global economy has shrunk by 4.4% in 2020. The organisation described the decline as the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s”.
What’s the Lord Saying?
Jesus Christ was speaking with his disciples in Matthew 24 and He confirmed that there shall be signs when the time is here for the birth of a new age. “This is how the first contractions and birth pains of the new age will begin” (Matthew 24:8) [TPT]. Jesus had a long talk in this section of Matthew’s gospel and all bother on the signs of the end time which is here. Though no one knows the time, the hour, and the day when His return would be except the Father, but the truth is that the birth of that new age is here.
It is crucial to remind ourselves that all the signs we are seeing and experiencing around the world today are typical signs which our Lord Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24, and it all implies that, as believers, we must be ready to adapt to continuing our walk with God even in this era which has just been birthed.
The signs mentioned by Jesus are already here; even thousands of years after these have been recorded in the Gospel. “You will hear of wars nearby and revolutions on every side, with more rumors of wars to come. Don’t panic or give in to your fears, for the breaking apart of the world’s systems is destined to happen. But it won’t yet be the end; it will still be unfolding. “Nations will go to war against each other and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be terrible earthquakes—seismic events of epic proportion, horrible epidemics and famines in place after place” (Matthew 24:6-7) [TPT].
Looking for the Blessed Hope
In all these, we must therefore be vigilant and clearheaded to hear the voice of the Spirit, while we look forward to seeing the glory which will be revealed as the time approaches. The glorious appearance of the Son of God, the Messiah Who came and gave His blood for the remission of the sins of mankind. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16) [NKJV].
The Apostle Paul admonished the believer in the book of Titus, as he talked about the “blessed hope” and that is what you and I should look forward to seeing now as we migrate into this new age. “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works” (Titus 2:11-14) [NKJV].
Happy New Month!
