We were meditating on 2 Kings 11:4 “Then he showed them the King’s son”:
He is wonderful in all His ways. He is altogether lovely. He is beautiful beyond description. In all things and beyond all things He is most excellent. Of all wisdom He is the wisest. Of all comfort and care He is the kindest. Of all understanding He surpasses all that has ever been or will be. Of all patience and long suffering He has chosen Himself to be the supreme example. Of all the richest treasures of love He alone has plumbed its depth and risen above its heights.
He is the tree of life. Enoch walked with Him. He is the Ark by which Noah was saved. He is Job’s mediator. He is the one who wrestled with Jacob. He is the interpreter of Joseph’s dreams. He is the slain Lamb, and He is the smitten rock from whom flows living water. He is the manna from heaven. He is a better husband even than Boaz was to Ruth. He is the psalmist’s shepherd, and a lover greater than even the Song of Songs can describe.
He is the Lord high and lifted up in Isaiah’s vision. He is the foundation stone and He is the capstone. He is Israel’s hope in darkest days. He is the anointed one who came to suffer and then to reign forever. He is the light of dawn and the morning star. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. His name is Jesus!
In these days of lockdown He is with us.
