We live in the social media age, and people do not want to be alone. We get ourselves occupied all the time, doing things with people. When the number of people in our network is very limited, we are not happy because we want more people to see what we do and give us their approval.
[7] And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. [8] Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength. (Daniel 10:7-8 NKJV)
If we have to make any meaningful impact with the help of God, we need to create A-Lone time with God. This is a time and moment when we have an undistracted focus on Him alone. We must be willing to deny ourselves good food, the latest technological devices, screens, conversations with people, good drinks that we enjoy, and anything that brings pleasure to us. Daniel gave himself to fasting and prayers for three consecutive weeks alone with God and he heard the voice of God. God downloaded a vision for his generation to him, even as a young man, captive in Babylon, a strange land.
However, before the vision was given to him, the people that were around him had to leave him because they could not see anything or hear anything. Immediately the men that were with Daniel left him, he then became undistracted, able to focus on God and he received a vivid vision from God. A massive vision for his generation and generations to come. We must learn to fix our gaze on our Maker even when we lose some relationships because they might not help us walk in the fulfilment of God’s purpose in our lives. God’s agenda will only come to fulfilment in our lives when we make an intentional decision to turn unto Him, giving Him our full attention. “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed” (Mark 1:35).
Naturally, when we lose relationships, we are saddened and we try to find ways to reconcile back to them, and Satan uses this to waste our time, distracting us from what God is doing because at that moment, especially when they are not seeing or discerning what God wants to do with us or in us. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
But it is for good, that we can have an undivided attention to access the divine insights into the mind of God. Sometimes when we see visions, the people around us don’t see especially when these people do not have the same Spirit that we have; they do not believe in what we believe, and that was the experience of Daniel. The Bible recorded that the men who were with him did not see or hear anything. Some relationships in our lives can be so noisy that we will never be able to receive clear instructions and guidance that we need to get on the right route into our destiny. These relationships are toxic to the fulfilment of God’s plan and agenda for us.
Another danger that Daniel avoided was trying to make these things happen; struggling to make these men see what he was seeing would have been a total waste of time because if God had not shown it to them, they would never have seen it. This will only distract Daniel from God’s vision. The lesson for every believer here is that we must be in the right relationship to walk in God’s vision, purpose, and agenda for our lives. And for this to come to reality, we must regularly create A-Lone time with God so that we can see a clear vision from God.
Creating A-Lone time with God is one of the keys to living a fulfilling, impactful, and fruitful life for every believer. If you want to thrive as a believer and a follower of Jesus, you must create a regular A-Lone time with your Maker.
