Due to our disappointments in life, some of us have decided never to trust again. Some say the last time I gave my trust to someone, they disappointed me, or even judged me.
We live in a world of uncertainties, where trusting someone has become a difficult thing to do. The reason is that our trust might have been betrayed in the past and that has restricted a lot of us from trusting again. Sincerely, building trust is not easy. It is easier to say I love you than to say I trust you. Trust comes when the integrity of a person has been tested. That is when one can be trusted and when it is betrayed, it’s difficult to fix.
“In our journey through life, many of us have experienced some level of disappointment in marriages, businesses, jobs, friends, relationships, governments, the society, churches, neighbourhood and even with ourselves.”
Our heart might have been broken so deep, that our trust level has become zero. Due to these negative experiences of disappointments and emotional hurts, some people have withdrawn to themselves and taken a decision to stay away from relationships, avoiding being hurt again. Due to our disappointments in life, some of us have decided never to trust again. Some say the last time I gave my trust to someone, they disappointed me, or even judged me.
This brings us to the profound question….
Who is a friend?
- A FRIEND is someone who is willing to take you the way you are.
- A FRIEND is someone who loves you at all times.
We can go on and on about whom a friend really is because the list is endless.
“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24).
Do You Have a Friend?
I got to meet someone many years ago and I want to introduce him to you. I have found a friend that sticks closer than a brother. My friend is very honest and loving. He will never judge you based on your past, rather he will relate with you based on your future.
I read a touching story about my friend and I want to share with you. A woman that was found guilty of committing a crime was brought to this lovely friend of mine, so that He could pass a judgement on this woman. They all waited in anticipation, wanting to hear what he would say, so that they could condemn this woman to death, but He gave a shocking response, full of wisdom. His response to them was that kind of response many of us wish would happen to us if we were in that woman’s situation.
The accusers were ready to stone this woman to death as their custom, but when they heard the shocking response of my friend… “If any of you is without mistakes cast your stone on her”… Wow! Remember, she was guilty as charged but unfortunately all her accusers seemed to be guilty too of the same offence. The fact she was caught sinning does not make them innocent too.
To be continued…
