“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” ( John 15:15).
As I mentioned in the introductory section of this series, we live in a world of uncertainties, where trusting people has become a difficult thing to do. The reason is that our trust might have been betrayed in the past and that has restricted a lot of us from trusting again. It is therefore extremely difficult building trust. It is easier to say “I love you” than to say “I trust you”. In the previous series, I delved into how trust is earned after the integrity of a person has been tested.
In the story of the woman that was accused of adultery and brought before Jesus in the scripture, Jesus Christ did not give a positive attention to the accusers of the woman at first, but later asked them a simple question; “Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” (John 8:3-5).
Go Now And Sin No More
Jesus responded to them and said, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” (John 8:7). They all dropped their stones and walked away. The beauty of this story was not that they just walked away, but He said unto the woman your mistakes are not counted against you. “Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and sin no more” (John 8:10). Don’t you just love this friend already?
Come Just As You Are!
He is such a wonderful friend indeed. He accepts you the way you are, and always makes people better than He met them. Let me introduce to you my one true friend, who will never leave you nor forsake you. His name is Jesus Christ. He is the friend that never condemns anyone but love everyone no matter their condition. His love is stronger than any mistakes anyone could ever make and when you put your trust in Him, you will never be disappointed because everything he says, he means and everything he means he says. According to Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.
In the gospel as recorded according to St. John 15:15, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you”. Jesus is the friend we can trust with our lives and he will never let us down. Jesus will never condemn us based on our past mistakes, but loves us with an everlasting love. All we need do is to invite him into our heart and he will come in and be our friend forever.
I Stand at The Door
Revelation 3:20 states “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”.
Jesus Christ is that friend everyone of us needs. He is the friend that will always be there in all circumstances, who will never let us down when we need Him most. Jesus’ love is unconditional. Friendship with Jesus is so reliable, dependable and devoid of disappointment.
