Bought With a Price

He loves us despite our sinful nature and He would not wave this love for any reason, but for His mercy, His love never gives up, as we have been bought with a price…

In his book, The Message of Salvation, Philip Graham Ryken wrote that we have totally been released from the shackles of prison and captive mentality, and I am of the opinion that the only exit from this kind of mindset is to have the understanding of the extent at which the redemption that was brought to us by Jesus could take us. Thankfully, the message of salvation promises release from our sins. The New Testament words for release come from the Greek verb Iyo, which means “to lose” or “loosening”, to set free by cutting a bond.

The Apostle Paul did explain this to the church in Corinth when he wrote in his letter to them; “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20). You and I no longer have the right to choose to act against the Christ-like life, as we do not own ourselves any more but we belong to God. The grace in Christ Jesus is the answer to this, as we can only succeed in our walk with God by His grace, and not by power, nor might of man.

No Longer Imprisoned by Guilt

A lot of times, I have been pushed to the wall by the pressures of daily life and I have even been to the point of thinking I had taken wrong steps and there can’t be remedy or  another chance to correct the mistakes which I had made, but the Holy Spirit would say to me, there is always another chance to correct mistakes as long as we are alive. The ball is always in our court to take a decision to turn back to God and make amends. We are not to eternally live in condemnation and Paul the apostle wrote in his letter; “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1). It is never late to put things right with your maker…just go for it today.

God’s Love Never Expires

Sometimes, I wonder what kind of being would love me with my sins and even knowing that my heart was not right with Him and would still give all His love to me unconditionally. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). That is the simple analysis of the depth of the love of God towards mankind. We do not deserve this love and we were even bought with a price that we cannot pay. What do we have to pay for the blood of the lamb? All we need do is  acknowledge this strange love, share it with others and walk according to His will by grace, which we have been given for free. He loves us despite our sinful nature and He would not wave this love for any reason. “For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.” (Isaiah 54:10).
